U.S. Forest Service Trail Maintenance Project

WCA signed an agreement with the U.S. Forest Service to help maintain U.S. Forest Service trails included in WCA's Tribal Transportation Trails Inventory, under the Wrangell Ranger District of the U.S. Forest Service, Department of Agriculture Recreational Trail Maintenance Program.

The Wrangell Cooperative Association and U.S. Forest Service work in partnership to maintain Forest Service-owned trails and roads that are significant to WCA because they provide access to traditional subsistence hunting and gathering areas.  WCA desires to provide access along these routes for tribal members and the general public, while providing opportunities for outdoor recreation.  Assisting in the annual maintenance of these routes fulfills the tribal interest in sustaining access to and opportunities for subsistence activities and recreation for tribal community members.  Maintenance work is accomplished by WCA employees who work with FS staff or associated volunteers/partners.
